CNBC
In the Summer of 2019, I had the privilege of working as a business journalist for CNBC in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. The job kept me on my toes and gave me challenges as a writer and thinker I could have never foreseen, be it learning to explain quantum computing in layman's terms or arguing why "fishless fish" could be the next major food craze. I interviewed iHeartRadio CEO Bob Pittman and executives from SurveyMonkey and Veritas Genetics, but I found equally as much joy hearing university professors talk about their research passions or hearing small business owners talk about how they're trying to make ends meet.
PORTFOLIO
In total, I was published 18 times in my 10 weeks with CNBC, and my articles generated over half a million page views for the company. My full online portfolio can be found here, but these are the pieces I am most proud of.
ASSIGNMENT DESK
The CNBC assignment desk is the nucleus of the news operation. Situated right under the "CNBC Global Headquarters" marquee, it handles everything from prepping breaking news cutovers to making sure our correspondents in Asia have adequate sound quality in interviews. I worked at the assignment desk two days a week where I sat in on editorial meetings and assisted with day-to-day news coverage. I also had the privilege of working inside the New York Stock Exchange three or four times every month as a production assistant for the live CNBC broadcasts.

LIVING IN NYC
As someone born and bred in the Midwest, I took advantage of every opportunity the East Coast offered me for the 10 weeks I was there. I went hiking in upstate New York, spent the 4th of July in Washington D.C., went boating in northern Massachusetts, ran around Philadelphia with a college friend, and soaked in every bit of electricity New York City had.

AND YES, I DID MAKE IT ON TV...
