Speaking of: Buying Snacks for the Office

I am convinced offering free snacks to employees has the best return-on-investment of anything a company can do in its office.

The cost is minimal by most metrics. A corporate employee making $35/hour might consume $5 worth of snacks in a day, a figure less than 2% of their daily wage. However, I would bet the improved perception of the company among the employees simply because the workplace now offers free snacks is worth far more than that 2% in cost. Giving employees snacks makes them feel taken care of. Employees that feel taken care of will do better work, and I will always believe that companies who have consistently high-achieving employees will be successful in the long run.

In general, don't underestimate the productivity difference between an employee who is very pleased with their company and an employee who only sort of likes their company. A fun-sized bag of cheddar cheese Ruffles could be the difference.
