There's something to be said about how great it is to feel fully exploited at the end of a work week.
When I say "exploited," I don't mean that as in "taken advantage of" or just "exhausted." I mean "exploited" as in "utilized to the fullest extent." Pretend I have an extremely self-indulgent list on-hand where I record all of the skills I think I possess. Let's call it, I don't know, a resume. There are many weeks at my current job where I can close my laptop on a Friday evening and feel like each and every one of those skills was used at some point during the week, and that's a pretty cool (albeit taxing) feeling. I feel like I'm genuinely able to apply myself deeply and fully into what I'm doing rather than just perform the tasks I was hired to do, and that's a feeling I know I'm lucky to have.
When you're at a young company, everyone is wearing six different hats at all times, and there are always more problems to sort through than there are people to sort through them. And that can absolutely feel overwhelmingly chaotic at times, but the truth of the matter is a workplace with a lot of problems is a workplace where there are lots of opportunities to add value. And seeking out these places to add value is what's leading me to this feeling of full exploitation at the end of the week. And I love that.
