Speaking of: Overthinking How to Live Life

There is absolutely value in living intentionally and being thoughtful about what choices you make everyday and how they affect the world around you. But there's also a price to overthinking how to live your life, and I think that price is full enjoyment.

To me, thinking TOO much about how to live your life while living it is like thinking TOO much about the act of driving while on the highway. If you're constantly worried about going the optimal speed, keeping the appropriate distance from the car in front of you, calculating the most efficient route to a place, staying perfectly in the center of the lane...sure, you might avoid a few more accidents over the course of a life than someone with less ambitious driving standards, but do you ever get to look out the window? Do you ever get to stick your hand out the sunroof and appreciate the fact you're in a 2,000 lb hunk of metal flying at 60 mph because of the miracle of combustion, and that's sick?

There's a line. I want to be a good driver, but I don't want to be overly worried about whether or not I'm always driving 100% correctly. Because when I get to the end of the road, I'll be satisfied knowing I enjoyed every mile of highway, figuring out the technique as I drove rather than overanalyzing my movements and finally cementing my plan for being the perfect driver when there's nowhere left to drive.

Because when I get to the end of the road, I'll be satisfied knowing I enjoyed every moment of my life, figuring out how to live it as the lessons arose rather than overanalyzing what I always should be doing and finally cementing my plan for living my most meaningful life when there's no life left to live.
