There is absolutely something to be said about always challenging the beliefs you have about yourself and finding ways to constantly seek discomfort. It's dangerous to make too many assumptions about what you will and won't like, and some of the things I've enjoyed most in life were the things I instinctively wanted to say no to.
There is also something to be said about knowing yourself and knowing your limitations and finding ways to put yourself in positions for success. If you didn't like the nightclub the first eight times you went, you're probably not going to like it on the ninth. You could tell yourself sure, giving something a ninth chance never hurt anyone, and this time you're going with different people, so maybe the nightclub will be better with different people. But it won't be better. Because you don't like nightclubs. And going again is just going to leave you standing at the bar playing with your empty pint glass because you're too sober to pay $17 for another Moscow mule, trying to block Sean Paul's voice from ever breaching your ear canal again, wondering why you thought the nightclub would be better the ninth time.
It's a delicate balance between trying to challenge yourself and trying to put yourself in positions for success, and I struggle with it a lot.
