Speaking of: Six Flags Syndrome

I have a concept in my life called Six Flags Syndrome. The basic premise is this: 98% of your time at an amusement park is spent waiting in lines for rides, hot, sweaty, and irritated that the rich people get to buy fast passes to the front of the line. However, whenever you look back on a day at the amusement park, all you remember is being on the rides. Gone is the 98% of time spent waiting in lines; all that remains is the highlights.

I'm the victim of Six Flags Syndrome a lot of times when looking back on relationships or periods in my development as a person or semesters of school. Sometimes a friendship fades, and I can't imagine why because I only remember fond memories with that person. Sometimes I'm having a bad day and I wish nothing more than to be back in senior year of college where everything was perfect.

I think we all suffer from Six Flags Syndrome, and it should always be accounted for when comparing the past to the present.
